With Baylor recruitment right around the corner, here are ten items to make sure you have in your rush bag (provided by Baylor recruitment). By ensuring you’re fully prepared and have everything you need, you can focus on meeting with and forming connections with each chapter. This list includes everything from touch-up essentials to comfort-ensuring necessities.

Oil Blotting Sheets

Even if it’s cooler outside, there will be a lot of people in a small space, and you’re bound to get sweaty. Oil blotting sheets are great on-the-go items for controlling shine and oil. They’re also quick, easy, and won’t leave any out-of-place makeup.

Mini Deodorant

As stated earlier, getting hot is inevitable, so it’s a great idea to have a mini deodorant or antiperspirant to keep comfortable and fresh. Having one in your rush bag can help boost your confidence on long days and help you have meaningful conversations while feeling your best.

Portable Fan

A small, portable fan is great for traveling between chapter rooms to keep from getting overheated and to keep makeup and hair maintained. It can also prove useful when waiting outside or in long lines.

Small Umbrella

Texas weather is unpredictable, so a small umbrella (small enough to fit in your tote bag) is great to prevent wet hair and runny makeup in the event it rains. Prevent any stress from unforeseen weather events by packing one of these in your bag.

Compact Mirror

Sometimes you’ll have long waits between chapter visits is a great time for any makeup touch-ups, and a compact mirror is perfect for on-the-go. Restrooms will probably be busy, so this is a great way to avoid any long lines.

Mini Hairbrush/Comb

It’s important to look presentable when meeting chapters, so a small hairbrush or comb is great for fixing any flyaways or windblown hair. This is especially helpful for moving quickly between spaces.

Hand Sanitizer

You’re going to meet and be around lots of people, so it’s a good idea to bring hand sanitizer to keep germs away, especially at the start of a new semester. As mentioned earlier, restrooms will probably have long lines, so this is a great way to keep clean without constant access to bathroom sinks.

Blister Bandages

At any event where you’re wearing heels, blisters are bound to happen. Blister bandages are great for preventing this and remaining comfortable during later rounds. These can make a big difference in how your conversations go if you’re not distracted by aching feet.

Portable Charger

Even though phones are not allowed while in chapter rooms, it’s still a good idea to bring a portable charger to keep your phone charged the whole day. This ensures that it’s ready for use between events and after the day is over.

Mini Notebook

A mini notebook is a great way to write down and keep track of your thoughts between chapter rooms without being on your phone. With recruitment’s fast-paced schedule, this is a great way to stay organized.

Reminder for PNMs

While preparing for rush can be overwhelming at times, it’s important to go into it with an open mind and authenticity, and to stay positive. Focus on genuine conversation and connection, and you’ll end up exactly where you need to be. Good luck, MC ’26!
